Pattochitra is an old traditional art form of Odisha and West Bengal. It is a cloth based scroll painting. It evolved from Sanskrit. When broken down into two parts, patta means cloth and chitra means picture. Hence, pattochitra is a picture painted on a piece of cloth. This form of art is closely related to the cult of Shri Jagannath and the temple traditions in Puri. This art originated in the 12th Century. It is the most popular living art forms and the people of Odisha practice it to this day. raghurajpur is a famous place for Pattachitra. My art work wants to convey the message that the trees not only provide shelter to animals, humans and birds and provide us with food but also help in cleaning the Earth by bringing rain, providing fresh air and also protect us from many other adversities. They save the Earth from getting destroyed. I feel plantation of trees is one of the best ways to save the Earth.
