  RITISHA BAJAJ (CLASS VIII) LAKSHMIPAT SINGHANIA ACADEMY, KOLKATA   I have made the kathputli of Radha & Krishna. Kathputli is a string puppet theatre, native to Rajasthan, India, and is the most popular form of Indian Rajasthani puppetry. Kathputli is an amalgamation of two Rajasthani words Kath meaning wood and Putli meaning a doll. Kathputli means a puppet which is made entirely from wood. However, it is made out of wood, cotton cloth and metal wire. One finds its reference in Rajasthani folk tales, ballads and sometimes even in folk songs. Similar puppets which are rod-puppets, are also found in West Bengal. But it is truly Rajasthan's amazing kathputli which made India one of the first countries to invent its traditional puppetry. This painting is done with a variety of tools, including fingers, twigs, brushes, nib-pens, and matchsticks , using natural dyes and pigments. It is characterised by its eye-catching geometrical patterns. There is ritual content for particular occasions, such as birth or marriage, and festivals, such as Holi, Surya Shasti, Kali Puja, Upanayana, and Durga Puja. TARAASHA SHARMA (CLASS VI) LAKSHMIPAT SINGHANIA ACADEMY, KOLKATA Warli painting is a form of tribal art mostly created by the tribal people from the north Sahyadri range in Maharashtra India. Warli paintings are among the finest example of the folk style of paintings.The Warli culture is centred around the concept of mother nature and elements of nature are often focal points depicted in Warli painting. Warli artist use their clay huts as the backdrop for the paintings. The Warli only paint with a white pigment made from a mixture of rice flour and water mixed with gum used as a binder. A bamboo stick is chewed at the end to give it the texture of a paint brush. Walls are painted only to mark special occasions such as weddings, festivals or harvests.
