Shinjini Biswas (Class VIII)

SHINJINI BISWAS (CLASS VIII)

DELHI PUBLIC SCHOOL, NORTH KOLKATA

Kalighat painting originated in the 19th century, in West Bengal. it has been used ever since to depict Hindu Gods and mythological creatures . It was also used to replicate moments of everyday life.this style of painting is characterized by bright colours and bold outlines. This type of painting is usually painted on paper or cloth. Here in relation to the topic " Heal the World", I have painted a scene which shows a woman donating clothes to poor children who are deprived of every luxurious items. Behind them I have drawn an Earth which has been put back with a bandage showing the healing of the world. the woman's economical state can be understood by her rich clothes. She is giving away clothes to the needy people who cannot afford such things. For this art, I have used acrylic paint. This is only a minimum step by which we can share happiness among others.
