Kuliya ki chaat is a famous street food in old Delhi .This chaat was introduced by a man named Heera Lal about 150 years ago. It's very tasty and healthy too. This chaat constitutes of vegetables and fruits which contain vitamins and minerals, along with some spices. Black chana adds proteins to the dish. The dash of lemon juice adds vitamin C to the recipe. Kuliya ki chaat is a very refreshing, healthy and a mouth watering dish. Tomatoes are the major dietary source of the antioxidant lycopene, which has been linked to many health benefits, including reduced risk of heart disease and cancer. They are also a great source of vitamin C, potassium, folate, and vitamin K. Cucumbers are rich in electrolytes. They can prevent dehydration and may support cardiovascular, bone, and skin health and help fight diabetes and cancer. Pineapples are tropical fruits that are rich in vitamins, enzymes and antioxidants. They may help boost the immune system, build strong bones . Radishes are rich in antioxidants and minerals like calcium and potassium.It helps to lower high blood pressure and reduce your risks for heart disease. The radish is also a good source of natural nitrates that improves blood flow. Black chana or Bengal gram is packed with nutrients. May help keep your appetite under control and is also rich in Plant-Based protein. May help you manage your weight, support blood sugar control and may benefit digestion. May protect against certain chronic diseases. Inexpensive and easy to add to our diet.
Ingredients:- Tomatoes 1 Cucumber 1 Pineapple 1 Radish 1 Pomegranate pearls 1/2 cup ( or any other seasonal fruit or vegetable) Black Bengal gram (kala chana) 500 grams Tamarind chutney 2 tablespoons Castor sugar (caster sugar) 2 teaspoons Salt to taste, Black salt (to taste) Roasted cumin powder 2 teaspoon Red chilli powder 1 teaspoon Lemon juice 2 tablespoons Roasted cumin powder 1 teaspoon Red chilli powder 1 teaspoon Lemon juice 2 tablespoons Watermelon 1 Chaat masala 2 teaspoons Aloo bhujiya 3 tablespoons Ginger cut into juliennes 1 inch piece Fresh coriander a few springs
Method Step 1 Slice the bottom and top of tomatoes. Hold them horizontally and cut into halves. Scoop out the flesh to form a cup. Similarly, repeat the procedure with other vegetables or fruits which you like to take. Step 2 Combine pomegranate pearls, black chana, tamarind chutney, castor sugar, salt, cumin powder, red chilli powder and mix well. Add 1 tablespoon lemon juice and mix well. Step 4 Fill the vegetable and fruit cups with the above mixture. Hold the watermelon vertically and halve. Further halve the two wedges and scoop out the flesh to form a boat. Use a cookie cutter to make circles in the boat without cutting through. Step 5 Insert the stuffed cups in the circles in the watermelon boat. Before serving, sprinkle chaat masala, remaining lemon juice, aloo bhujiya on the stuffed cups. Garnish with ginger juliennes and coriander leaves and serve immediately.
