INDIAN CHAAT
Ingredients required:-
Boiled or curried Chick peas Chopped vegetables (onions, tomatoes ,boiled potatoes) Suitable spices (chaat masala is mostly used) Fried flour crispies (papdi) Toppings (of any choice)
Recipe:- 1. Mix the chopped veggies with the chick peas. 2. Add the spices. 3. Add about half of the toppings. 4. In the serving bowls add 2 fried flour crispies, on top of it add the chick pea filling. 5. Add the toppings. 6. Serve hot!
Benefits of the ingredients used :- Vegetables are rich in minerals, salts etc. and are very good for our health. As a rich source of vitamins, minerals and fiber, chickpeas may offer a variety of health benefits, such as improving digestion, aiding weight management and reducing the risk of several diseases. Additionally, chickpeas are also high in protein.
The origin of Chaat :- During the reign of Emperor Shah Jahan, in the 16th Century, there was an outbreak of cholera. Desperate attempts were made to control it by physicians and sorcerers. One remedy suggested was to make food with loads of spices so that it would kill the bacteria within. Thus was born the spicy chaat, which the entire populace of Delhi is believed to have consumed.
