Sattu Pani (Sattu Delight)
Origin: Sattu Sharbat is one of my favorite summer drinks. This sweet delight that originated in Bihar is known for its cooling properties. It is popular across the country and has its own variations in states like Punjab, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.
Recipe:
1.Take a glass of water and add 2 tbsp sattu powder in it.
2.Add sugar or jaggery as per taste. I usually add 2 to 3 teaspoon of sugar or jaggery powder per serving.
3.Add black salt according to taste. For some tangy flavour, you can also add lemon or lime juice.
4.Stir and mix everything very well.
5.Serve after mixing or you can even refrigerate and serve it later. As the flour settles down, stir it if you serve a little later.
Nutritive Value:-
1.Water-helps to maintain the balance of body fluids. Our body is composed of about 60% water. The functions of these bodily fluids include digestion, absorption, circulation, creation of saliva, transportation of nutrients, and maintenance of body temperature.
2.Sattu (roasted black chickpea flour)- is a high-protein food, with iron, calcium and vitamins. Being high in fibre, sattu also helps fight constipation.
3.Regular sugar or organic unrefined cane sugar or jaggery-It is rich in essential minerals such as Magnesium, Phosphorus, Iron, and Calcium. One must keep in mind that the sugar content in jaggery is almost the same as white sugar.
4.Black salt-has antioxidant properties and low sodium levels. It also contains important minerals like Iron, Calcium, and Magnesium. Black salt stimulates bile production in the liver and helps control heartburn and bloating.
